Sample Submission

Every registered user of the NMR service is allowed to submit samples for measurement on our 500 and 600 MHz machines.

Please note that instrument time on these machine is mainly dedicated to:

  1. Low-concentration samples
  2. Compounds with high molecular mass (e.g. peptides and other biopolymers)
  3. Experiments not offered in the open-access (Please, ask the staff of the NMR service if you have special requirements!)
  4. NMR titrations, kinetic studies at variable temperature, diffusion measurements etc.
  5. Measurement of "exotic" nucei
  6. HR-MAS experiments

How does it work?

Read the the instructions below and then submit your sample here

(you have to be at ETH or connected via VPN in order to access the submission page)

Instructions

Login with your NMR service user name and the sample submission password (ask the staff of the NMR service). Fill in the electronic form:

  • The "sample" field must contain an alphanumeric string that identifies your sample.
  • The e-mail address must be valid because the system will send a summary of your request to this address.
  • Upload a .png or .jpg file with the presumed molecular structure (generated e.g. with ChemDraw). This allows us to optimize experimental parameters for your type of compound.
  • Specify any additional requirements (solvents not in the pull-down menu or methods not in the list of checkboxes in the "remarks" field).

After clicking "submit", you will see a summary of your request. Use the print button to print it and bring this printout together with your sample to the NMR-service (HCI D314).

For more information or if you encounter any difficulties please contact your superuser or ask the team of the NMR-Service.
